About Ak-Suu Orphanage:

Ak-Suu Orphanage is located in Issyk-Kul Oblast, in Teplokluchenko village.  Ak-suu Orphanage is a governmental property and currently cares 91 children, aged 4 to 18. Children speak Kyrgyz language and study at secondary schools in the village.  The children have many opportunities to participate in different kinds of activities at the orphanage such as dressmaking class, drawing and dancing classes, and sport clubs, computer club. The orphanage staff is 18. They have good experience working with international volunteers. Each year they host up to 3-4 international guests. During the summer, children will live at a compound on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul, which is where the camp will take place.

LS-02 “Arts & Craft”  Work-Camp   July 25 – August 7 Social/Community   Development   9 VOLs+

JCEP has been undertaken by the Issyk-Kul oblast state Administration with technical assistance of JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) since January 2007. Purpose of the project is to establish a sustainable system for regional development through the community empowerment by adapting One Village One Product Movement. OVOP Movement is a strategic movement designed specifically for regional development.  The uniqueness of the approach is to achieve regional economic development through adding value to locally available resources, through processing, quality control, packing design and marketing promotion. OVOP members and workers produce handmade local products using materials around their villages. They produce golden-orange Sea-buckthorn Berry Jam, herbal soaps, felt products such as purses, laptop cases, mobile cases, silk and wood scarves, Kyrgyz souvenirs and ect.  Within OVOP Karakol Student Research Shop is functioned. It promotes Issyk-Kul products to the national and international markets made by J-CEP pilot villages and other local producers. KSRS also enables students-volunteers to develop the skills in management and marketing. OVOP has 6 villages in Issyk-Kul oblast which are involved in producing natural products.

LS–03     NURSERY  July 25 – August 7  ENVIRONMENT/FOREST  10    VOLS  10+ “Save the planet”

This Ak-Suu Nursery Forest was founded in 1949 and is situated in Ak-Suu Village, 15 km from Karakol. It is unique because it is the only organization of its kind in Kyrgyzstan. Ak-Suu Nursery Forest covers 1529 hectares of landscape. Each year they plant trees, care for young seedlings, and protect the soil, while one of the main goals of the nursery is the cultivation of non-native crops.  There are 120 kinds of bushes and trees, 111 of which are non-native, 33 kinds of birches, several kinds of pine, acacia and maple in the territory of the nursery. An arboretum was also founded there, where rare and unique plants growing in the territory of Kyrgyzstan and beyond the borders of the country are collected.

All studies and work at the nursery are under observation from the Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyz Republic. Currently, work is underway on the acclimatization of beech, common eastern hemlock, and European hornbeam trees.

23 апреля прошёл заключительный  тренинг  «Blogging», в рамках проекта «Обратная сторона культура глазами молодёжи». Основной задачей для тренеров было рассказать и наглядно показать, как пользоваться социальными сетями не только для развлечения, но и для влияния, работы и поддержки. Тренерам был специалист по новым медиа и его помощники по  twitter волонтер Зарина, а так же по блогу на Kloop.kg волонтер Азат.  На тренинге участники проекта узнали термины, которые используют юзеры Интернета, такие как пост, аккаунт, аватар, медиа, твит, фоловер, твитерианин. Как оказывается, многие юзеры не знают многих терминов, которые используются во всемирной паутине.

Проект «Обратная сторона культура глазами молодежи» объявляет набор участников от 15 до 21 годав целях обучения и подготовки проектной группы.
